What we believe matters! We believe the Bible, and it affects everything about us!

1. GOD’S WORD IS PERFECT

2 Timothy 3:16, Isaiah 40:8, Psalm 119:89

• Jesus had a high view of Scripture (Matthew 5:18: 24:35)

What about…problems?  Most problems come from:

• Misreading
• Distorting
• Contradicting
• Subjectivism
• Relativism
• Overconfidence

APPLICATION:  APPROACH THE BIBLE PRAYERFULLY AND INTENTIONALLY

1. Observation.   What do you see?  Verse / Chapter / Book   Who is the original audience?  What did it mean to them?
2. Interpretation.  What is going on around the text – using tools.
3. Application.  The most neglected and most needed stage of the process.

2. GOD’S WORD IS PROFITABLE

2 Timothy 3:16-17, Matthew 4:4

In 2 Timothy 3:14-17

• (v14) Revelation
• (v15) Salvation – through Christ alone
• (v16-17) Sanctification

Isaiah 53:4-10

JESUS CAME AS THAT PERFECT SAVIOR…

• He lived the life we couldn’t live!
• He died the death we should have died!
• He paid the debt we couldn’t pay!
• He was punished for crimes He didn’t commit!

3. GOD’S WORD IS PURPOSEFUL

2 Timothy 3:17

Many Christians are educated beyond their obedience (Browning)
