The church’s mission is to take the Gospel to our neighbors, our neighborhoods, and the nations!
Galatians 6:9-10; Ephesians 2:10; Titus 2:14
1. OUR COMMITMENT TO THE GREAT COMMISSION
Matthew 28:19-20
The Great Commission command…
The Great Commission’s principles:
- pursue
- baptize
- teach
The Great Commission Promise…
Two Paths
- Our SENTNESS: The Missional Path
- Our SENDING: The Missionary Path
Revelation 7:9-10
THE CHURCH IS A “SENT” AND A “SENDING” PEOPLE FOR GOD’S GLORY!
REFLECTION QUESTIONS:
- Who are some of the people God has placed in your life who do not yet know Him?
- How can we help you reach them with the gospel?
- How can you help others reach their unbelieving friends with the gospel?
- How should Jesus’ aim to save people from every people group impact your life?
- How are you tempted to only associate with people who look like you or have similar cultural preferences?
- How does love for Jesus and obedience to the Great Commission compel you to grow?
2. OUR COMMITMENT TO GO!
John 20:21; Acts 1:8
Francis Dubose, “…you begin to see with fresh eyes that we are a people made new in Christ to live as agents of his mission.”
Mission – …redemptive purpose of God to establish His Kingdom
Missions – …activity of God’s people to proclaim and demonstrate the Kingdom to the world
APPLICATION/REFLECTION:
- Are you prayerfully seeking opportunities to speak of Christ?
- Are you actively having people who don’t follow Christ in your home / on your day?
- How does Mission Bible Church’s praying, preaching, and teaching compel us to consider taking the gospel to those who have never heard of Jesus?
3. OUR COMMITMENT TO SEND
3 John 1:1-8
- Concern for missions and missionaries is normal (v3, v5, v8)
- Cooperation among local churches is encouraged (v3, v7)
- Knowing whom we ought to support is crucial (vv 6-8)
- Support should be abundant (v6)
- it’s better to support fewer with more than more with less.
- The motivation is love for the glory of Christ! (vv 7-8)
WHAT’S KEEPING YOU FROM GOD’S GOSPEL MISSION IN YOUR LIFE?
As believers, we commit to God.
As a family, we commit to one another.
As disciple-making disciples/ambassadors for Christ, we commit to the world!
