Question: What happens when you can’t see the power of God on display in your life?

Passage: Luke 1:46-52

Margin notes on “Strength & Might”

  • (49) He who is mighty
  • done great things
  • (50) fear
  • (51) strength shown by His arm
  • scatters the proud
  • (52) brought down the mighty
  • exalts the lowly
1. HE IS MIGHTY (v49)
  • not he WAS
  • not he WILL BE

See Zephaniah 3:17; Psalm 89:8-18; Isaiah 9:6; Luke 1:37; 18:27; Romans 1:16-17

We don’t need to go hunting for a sign or wonder!

2. HE DOES GREAT THINGS (49-50)
  • Nobody cared about Nazareth
  • Nobody knew about Mary
  • Nobody but God – to accomplish His grand story of redemption.
The thread of redemption woven throughout Scripture seems to wind its way through a lot of small towns and seemingly little lives that few of us would ever select for a supporting cast in God’s Great Story of Redemption.
See Psalm 138:4-6; 34:18; 103:1-5; Romans 8:28-30

GOD HAS NOT FORGOTTEN YOU!
GOD SEES YOU!
GOD KNOWS YOU!
GOD LOVES YOU!
Before you were capable of even puting a sentence together, He said He loved you, by sending His son, Jesus to pay your sin debt!

3. GOD SHOWS HIS STRENGTH! (50-52)

John 1:12-13

He shows mercy!
He scatters the proud!
He knows our hearts!
He brings down the mighty from their thrones!
He lifts the humble!

See James 4:6-10

FINAL: He is working His might in the everyday – the ordinary means of grace. He is working in and through people around you – and He’s ready to work in and through you!
Will you surrender today?  Will you meditate on His might this week?
